Project description

I handled the design and development of a custom WordPress theme for the Concorso Nazionale Wanda Capodaglio. The old system did not allow agile content management and did not meet the organizing team’s accessibility and usability needs. I chose to structure an editorial system based on Advanced Custom Fields (ACF), creating dedicated templates and reusable frontend components to manage editions, finalists, jury, sponsors, and documents simply. The goal was to make the site easy to update and more inclusive to use. I handled the information architecture, development in PHP, Tailwind, and JavaScript, and navigation optimization. Particular attention was given to accessibility: I added semantic landmarks (header, nav, main, aside, footer), used sr-only classes for contextual labels (article navigation, post metadata, menu and slider buttons), and implemented advanced ARIA patterns such as tablist/tab/tabpanel on the edition page, with aria-selected, aria-controls, and hidden management.
